Who answers questions? Himmelfarb reference and research staff answer questions: Elaine Sullo, Stacy Brody, Tom Harrod, Paul Levett, Susan Koenig and Samrawit Sisay.   We may also connect you with a specific staff member to provide specialized support.

How do we communicate?  We're available via email, chat, and phone for quick questions, and can schedule web conferences for more in-depth questions and projects. 

What can librarians help with?    We can help with quick questions (finding full-text, identifying a resource, formatting a citation or using a citation management tool) as well as with more in-depth queries: 

  • Research consultations including support for culminating experience projects in the Milken Institute School of Public Health
  • Systematic reviews  
  • Data management

What hours is the service offered? Mon-Thurs: 8:30 AM - 8 PM and Fri 8:30 AM - 5 PM

Himmelfarb Online

Himmelfarb Library provides access to 125+ electronic databases, 6,400+ electronic books, and 4,800+ electronic journals.  Online access is available 24/7 to GW faculty, students, residents, and staff. 


Courtyard Pick-up Service

Are you in the area and want to pick up materials?  Courtyard Service is available for Himmelfarb's collection as well as Consortium Loan Service (CLS) and Interlibrary Loan items.


Shipping Service

Are you enrolled in online classes offered in the SMHS, GWSPH, or SON?  Shipping Service is available for Himmelfarb's collection as well as as Consortium Loan Service (CLS) and Interlibrary Loan items.


Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery

Do you need something that is not available at Himmelfarb?  Request it via Documents2Go!  Items delivered via online delivery, Shipping Service, Courtyard Pick-up Service, or Himmelfarb pick-up!  


Consortium Loan Service

Do you need something available at another local academic library?  Request it by logging in to Health Information @ Himmefarb!  Items delivered to Himmelfarb or the VSTC library, via Shipping Service, or via Courtyard Pick-up Service!  


Himmelfarb: On-Site Access

Himmelfarb Library's building is open to patrons that have been approved to be on campus during phase 1 of reopening (SMHS Laboratory Research), GW residents, SMHS, SON and GWSPH students currently enrolled in on-site classes or on clinical rotations, and MD students in the virtual track. Approved users must present a GWorld card; other forms of identification are not currently accepted. Our hours are:

Monday - Thursday: 8am - 10pm

Friday: 8am - 6pm

Saturday: 12n - 8pm

Sunday: 12n - 10pm
