Generative AI has been a frequent topic of discussion since last November when ChatGPT launched. ChatGPT is a ‘large language model’ that allows a user to ask questions to which ChatGPT will create and immediately display responses. Text that is generated by ChatGPT is difficult, if not impossible, to distinguish from human-generated text. And, while ChatGPT can generate text, it can also generate inaccurate information, too - by fabricating information (including citations) when it doesn’t have the right information or by providing outdated information. ChatGPT was initially trained on data through September 2021 so its responses reflect that limitation; premium ChatGPT subscriptions now use a version of ChatGPT which will continuously browse the Internet for updated information.
Himmelfarb Library now offers nine new anatomical models for student use. SMHS anatomy and occupational therapy faculty alongside GWSPH exercise science faculty surveyed an extensive list of possible models for purchase and recommended these as vital additions to the library’s non-print collection.
Himmelfarb Library is always looking for ways to help our library users increase their research productivity. This month we’ll look at three things you can install to make your next research session seamless and convenient.
The Health Sciences Research Commons (HSRC) is a digital repository maintained by the Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library where students, faculty, and staff associated with SMHS, SPH, and SON can archive copies of their scholarly output. Using HRSC you can archive materials including conference posters, reports, news articles, OA journal articles, preprints, book chapters, ETDs, and more. Archiving your materials allows you to participate in the scholarly communications process by making your ideas and research available to your peers in the health sciences community.
Are citations becoming a daunting task in your research? Proper citation styles may seem daunting, but there's no need to worry. Himmelfarb’s citation Citations Tutorials LibGuide is a valuable resource tailored specifically to assist and simplify the citation process. If you are presenting or publishing an article, the accuracy and precision of your citations matter.
