Himmelfarb Headlines: Growing Readership with Health Sciences Research Commons

Growing Readership with Health Sciences Research Commons

HSRC Readership

The Health Sciences Research Commons (HSRC) is a digital repository maintained by the Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library where students, faculty, and staff associated with SMHS, SPH, and SON can archive copies of their scholarly output. Using HRSC you can archive materials including conference posters, reports, news articles, OA journal articles, preprints, book chapters, ETDs, and more. Archiving your materials allows you to participate in the scholarly communications process by making your ideas and research available to your peers in the health sciences community.

Why should you archive with HSRC? Here are a few reasons:

  • Your research will be placed into a permanent collection and you will have a stable link that you can include on your resume/CV or on your website.
  • Your research will be discoverable via search engines such as Google Scholar
  • You can measure the impact and reach of your research through PlumX metrics and Altmetrics data.
  • It’s free! You don’t have to pay to deposit your research into the HSRC.

The HSRC platform is indexed by major search engines including Google Scholar which enhances readership, particularly for items such as conference posters and news articles or reports not published elsewhere. With the platform you can create special collections of institutional research such as the Reports on Missouri’s Public Health Response to Covid-19 collection from the School of Public Health or the URGENT Matters collection from the School of Medicine and Health Sciences. And, for students applying for their next academic or professional position, digitally archiving items such as conference posters can help to set them apart from their peers.

The platform also provides access to PlumX and Altmetrics to help you explore how your research might be seen on social media or by major news outlets:
