When you’re sick, the Student Health Center (SHC) is here to offer multidisciplinary, integrated, confidential healthcare services in a culturally sensitive, and supportive environment. Services include easily accessible medical care, psychological counseling services and health promotion and education.
As the primary mental health agency for GW students and the rest of the campus community, CAPS support mental health and personal development by collaborating with students to overcome challenges and difficulties that may interfere with academic, emotional, and personal well-being. Professional counselors provide a safe and non-judgmental, culturally sensitive environment for students to discuss concerns.
The Center Clinic is a nonprofit community mental health center housed within the George Washington University Professional Psychology Program. The clinic is staffed by clinical externs who are advanced doctoral students supervised by licensed, highly-experienced professionals. The Clinic provides mental health services to adults, adolescents, and children in the Washington, DC area who may otherwise not have access to needed care.
The CARE Team aims to create a GW community that care for each other. This goal is fostered by creating a pathway through which students who may need additional support can be identified and referred to the most appropriate services. Through the CARE Team, students are given the support they need to persist and succeed at GW and beyond. Note, the CARE Team is not an emergency system.
