Library Policies: Appropriate Use of Textbooks, Journals, and Databases

Appropriate Use of Textbooks, Journals, and Databases

The online resources available through Himmelfarb Library have been licensed by Himmelfarb Library and/or the George Washington University for use by its faculty, staff and students. In general, these resources permit users to conduct their personal research to support education, research, and clinical practice, and to print or download a single copy of materials.

These resources do NOT permit users to copy or distribute the contents for any other purpose, to download large portions of the resources, or to re-post the resources on the Internet. Faculty may link to licensed resources for use in instruction; for information on creating durable links to licensed resources, please consult Linking to Electronic Resources: Creating Durable Links. Before posting full-text materials in Blackboard, faculty should consult the Blackboard Copyright Chart to ensure copyright compliance; additional information on Copyright is available on the Copyright Research Guide.

By accessing these resources, you agree to abide by Himmelfarb Library's appropriate use policy as well as the policies of the publishers who produce and/or supply the resources. If you have questions regarding appropriate use, please contact Laura Abate (leabate@gwu.edu or 202-994-8570).

When you access Himmelfarb resources from an off-campus location, you must log in via a secure mechanism (VPN OR web-based GW NetID login). You must use your personal login and password only; do not share your login and password with anyone.

For questions, or to get more information about access to Himmelfarb Library, contact Reference Services at himmelfarb@gwu.edu, or by text at 202-601-3525.
