About RefWorks

RefWorks is an online research management, writing, and collaboration tool. It is designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies.

RefWorks allows you to import references from online databases and other sources.  You can use these references in writing papers and automatically format the paper and bibliography in seconds.

Updated interface provides drag and drop citation functionality, enhanced sharing features, project management, and PDF annotation functionality.  

RefWorks Classic

**The Classic (or Legacy) interface is scheduled to be deactivated on June 30, 2023**

To upgrade your RefWorks account to the newer version and move your existing citations:

  1. Login to your RefWorks Classic account.
  2. In the upper left area of the screen, click on Upgrade to the latest RefWorks version!
  3. Follow the prompts and provide your GW email address and set an account password.
