Accessing Journals Through Himmelfarb

E-Journals

  • Himmelfarb Library's journal collection is now primarily electronic.
  • Search by journal title or ISSN, or browse by subject.
  • Full-text links at the article level are integrated into Scopus, PubMed, MEDLINE, and other research articles databases.

Print journals

  • Search the Library Catalog to locate print journal archives.
  • Journal holdings from 1980 through 2000's are stored in On-Site Storage. You can submit a request for an article using an online form; the journal will be available at the Reference/Circulation Desk about an hour later for you to pick up and use.
  • Journal holdings from prior to 1980 are stored in Off-Site Storage. You can submit a request for an article using the Documents2Go system; the article will be emailed to you after about 24 hours.

Consortium Loan Service

  • Permits you to borrow journals and books from other area libraries including including American, Georgetown, Gallaudet, George Mason and Marymount Universities, and the University of the District of Columbia, as well as other GWU libraries (Eckles/Mt. Vernon campus and the Northern Virginia campus/Ashburn) .
  • To request item: search the Catalog then click on 'Request from Consortium Loan Service'.

Interlibrary Loan Services

  • Provides access to journals and books owned by other libraries.
  • 15 free ILL requests per semester (Fall and Spring)
