Navigating Himmelfarb

Masks

  • GW requires all individuals to wear masks in indoor public settings beginning July 31, 2021.  This guidance is consistent with the District’s decision which is based on guidance from the CDC and also as a precaution as COVID rates have increased locally.

Getting around

  • The elevator provides access to all floors as does the adjacent stairwell on the Ross Hall Courtyard side of the library.
  • The stairwell on the 23rd street side of the library provides for travel between the ground level, first, and second floors.

Using study spaces

All study rooms at Himmelfarb Library MUST be reserved in advance on our web page.

  • To ensure that all students have access to our limited spaces, individuals may reserve a room for a maximum of 4 hours per day.
  • Please limit the amount of food and drink you bring into the library.  Please clean up your space before you leave.
  • Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available throughout Himmelfarb.

IT Support

Handling library materials

  •  If you pull a book off the shelf that you don’t plan to check out, please return it to a shelving cart.  This allows us to track usage and to make sure it's returned to the correct location.

Restrooms

  • Restrooms are available on all floors of Himmelfarb Library.
  • On the Basement level, the Women's restroom has an adjoining Lactation Room; a Men's restroom is not available on the Basement level.
  • To open the door without using your hands, use the “foot puller”.
